Beacon Arts
Beacon Arts offers high quality arts and creative participatory workshops in both craft and performance skills, working alongside professional artists in a range of disciplines. In the past four years compromising music, circus skills, dance and drama projects for young people during school holidays. Not forgetting the popular annual Crafty Capers all ages drop in craft workshops. Each year we aim to host one craft and two performance based projects.
Beacon Arts is the new name for the charity formerly known as Sticklepath Fireshow. To better reflect the charity’s now varied arts activities, in 2019 the Sticklepath Fireshow registered charity trustees decided it was time for a new name. Rising out of the old came Beacon Arts, still organising and supporting creative projects where participants work alongside professionals to create and exhibit their own art work.
Other considerations important to our local and community based ethos are the use of professionals from across the south west, utilising Beacon village venues to reduce travel for participants, enabling young people without transport to take part in workshops local to where they live. We also organise lunchtime childcare to enable young people attend full day workshops during the school holidays.
Beacon Arts joins in with popular local events, for example giving children the opportunity to perform at Dartmoor Folk Festival in 2018 and 2019 and South Zeal Carnival for many years; where we were proud winners of the Walking Group cup at South Zeal Carnival in 2019.
